In this project, the student is required to design a composition on 18×24 image that draws inspiration from a chosen artist. For my artist, Lino Lago, I’ve decided to depict a image that has a solid color with some parts of the original image below being shown.
My notes on Lino Lago, which shows how he paints his art then play “peekaboo” with his art.
My original concept involves surrealism, but adds a bit of illustrative elements into the design. A bit contradictory of what Lago does, but I wanted to convey a sort of alignment or nod to his work.
In the design process, I wanted to depict flowers, which was meant to invoke freshness and familiarity. This symbol alongside the depiction of the living room is meant to speak within freshness of one’s home.

Our main focus in this composition had to do with the gestalt principles and how they can be accomplished through photography and edited in Adobe Photoshop. The composition below describes a day as a high school junior and shows me participating at an art event.

The beginning of the design process with my third project in my Intro to Visual Communications class.
Using the Gestalt Theory, our assignment was to incorporate a figure ground element that unifies two different concepts.
