Exhibition 1: Eazel
In Ritchie’s Charles Ritchie: Welcome to Suburbia, Ritchie explores and creates impressively small scaled drawings that explore landscape. In work that is smaller and more minimal, it is crucial that the artist be patient to avoid mix-ups in their composition. For instance, most of Ritchie’s work includes small compositions of various sizes and lengths. This essential when try to make a focal point of make variety in your work.
In Seoul, Ritchie is debuting his art between the dates of March 12 and April 28 of this year.
Ritchie’s work in the gallery is unique in that the artist incorporates various mediums. Mediums such as gouache, graphite, crayon, charcoal, and ink only to name a few. Altogether the artist was determined to play with space within the gallery to make the audience immerse themselves in an intimate setting. The intimate setting being the small artwork.
I can consider adding this type of style towards my palette and work upon that style. This style is favorable for me because it allows for the point to still be made with risk of losing or the need for more content. Considering the execution and consideration of not only the artwork, but the space around it has to be inspirational. Moreover, getting the audience to react in such a way is essential too.
